Organic Cotton Bassinet, Cradle, Pram Mattress - Made to Order

These futon style mattresses are made to order to your size requirements in oval or rectangle shape in our hygienic sewing room. The 100% organic cotton natural outer fabric contains no dyes or bleaches. The filling is air cleaned pure Organic Cotton. Totally safe for baby and  absolutely no additives, chemicals or toxins, just the ultimate, purest organic product available.

Production time is approximately 3-5 weeks from when we receive your template and payment, or payment if no template is required. If you require it more urgently, please call us.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FACTS AND SPECIFICATIONS BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER:

To protect your baby's mattress, always use our standard bassinet, cradle, or cot size mattress protector, also made with our natural organic cotton fabric. These mattress protectors are NOT waterproof; water proofing is plasticising and we do not promote plasticisers. (We can give you a possible suggestion of what to use if you wish to phone us.) The mattress protector may be a bit larger than your mattress. It is made with elastic around the edges and any excess will tuck under the mattress. To make a special size protector would cost more.

To provide your baby with a lump free mattress the cotton has to be carded (fluffed out). Due to the nature of the filling we cannot strictly adhere to overall size and height. They look somewhat like a flat pillow. They are irregular, and the height can depend on how fluffed out the filling is but we get close to between 5-6 cm depth. Please note they are not sectioned like the cot and adult size futon mattress.

If your Bassinet / Cradle or Porta-Cot base is not net or slats, we recommend regular airing (daily OR weekly) to allow for the cotton to breathe as ventilation of the cotton is very important to keep the longevity for use and health for your baby.

PLEASE NOTE

Any futon mattress, including cradle and cot, must be used on both sides and requires regular turning and should only be used on a hardwood slat base bed, cot or cradle. When using a futon for a bed wetter (including the inevitable nappy leaks) ALWAYS layer our mattress pads under the mattress protector and check/wash daily. None of these products contain or are covered with waterproof material.

Unlike conventional mattresses made with foamed rubber, (incorrectly called latex), our mattresses may initially feel soft to you. The combination of the soft mattress plus the hard base of your cradle gives your baby a firm sleeping base. Some pre natal nurses and midwives object to the softness, others have said they are excellent. It is all a matter of opinion. We disagree with the recommendation that a baby sleeps on chemical ladden latex, (foamed rubber) mattresses. The important thing is that baby does not sleep on a toxic mattress full of chemicals which can exacerbate the SIDS problem.

PLEASE NOTE: If the mattress is to be shaped we require a template made with PLAIN paper, (not newspaper please). If it is a rectangular shape we can accept your emailed measurements. Either trace the mattress you may have, or push paper into cradle base, trace with pen and cut out! Check if this cut out shape is correct.
